CHARACTER INFO.
Character Name: Hanamura, Yosuke
Canon: Persona 4, True Ending, after saying goodbye to the protagonist.
Character Appearance: here
Character Age: 17
Pick A Number: 622 or 808

Canon Setting: Yosuke comes from our world, but with a few variations. He lived in a big city growing up which seemed to be what we would consider completely normal (Tokyo, according to secondary canon sources.) Then he moved to the rural mountain town of Inaba halfway through the first year of high school, and things started getting stranger.

In Inaba he learns about the TV world, a world that connects with reality and has a symmetrical magical relationship to it. (This is made possible through gods that exist in reality and chose the TV world as a medium of expression, we later discover.)

The TV world is filled with "shadows," which are brought into being by the hidden feelings of the humans on the outside of the TV. First in Inaba, and eventually reaching much farther, with the potential to influence the entire world. The weather in the TV world is directly influenced and opposite of the weather in reality. Even those without the ability to enter the TV world by themselves can participate in it by viewing their television sets. At first this is limited to rainy midnight viewings, but it later becomes clearly possible at other times as well. As early as the very first dungeon weʻre shown in the game, the feedback is clearly shown to go both ways.

Magic is proven to exist, most specifically elemental style magic and various charms to boost or lower status of a persona user or their opponents. There are also magical physical attacks, which are made possible by the use of a persona. Charm items and magical protective armor also exist, and various weapons and cleats with magical powers. All of these things are only seen to be used inside of the TV world. Although many of them can be obtained on the outside, those who sell them donʻt seem to know of their magical properties.

A persona is the manifest of oneʻs strength of will, which can be called forth and used in battle by anyone who has unlocked theirs. (Though in extra canon materials and previous games in the series itʻs made clear that they do not work for adults over a certain age. This implies that perhaps personae get their strength and viability from the spirit of youth.) It should be noted that personas in the Persona 4 game specifically are almost always (with a few exceptions) born of shadows. The manifest of a personʻs flaws and ill will becomes transformed into the manifest of their strength of spirit after theyʻve accepted their deep fears and dark secrets as parts of themselves. They then become persona users.

In other games in the series, shadows are able to walk in the outside world when conditions are right, and persona users are able to call their persona forth there as well. This doesnʻt seem to be the case in Persona 4 with one notable exception (and ignoring follow up Persona 4 materials in which this statement is contradicted by entire game plots.) In Persona 4 the persona users only use their persona within the TV world. Whether they can call them forth outside of it is unknown as they have no need to during the game, because the battles take place in the TV world. Even for the final confrontation in the True Ending, they still meet with their opponent in the TV world. This suggests that the conditions to summon a persona need to be right, at least in their home world.

Other minor differences with their world and our current reality include the recognizable re-branding of things to avoid using copyrighted names, so anyone having a conversation with a persona character might have to think for a second to figure it out. Though as the game is meant to be set in reality, Yosuke will recognize major brands within reason on occasions where doing so wonʻt accidentally fourth wall anyone. The game is set during the year 2011, so a few technological and pop culture differences will exist but Yosuke will be familiar with most modern things. Which is mostly irrelevant in the CDC but might come up during interactions with other characters.

Character History: here Note: there are a LOT of Persona games, and Yosuke appears in a handful of them as well as two animes, drama CDs, a prequel magazine, live action, etc. In any instances where there's a conflict between newer material that's not explained by character development up to his given canon point, I default to the original canon source, which is Persona 4 for PS2.

Character Personality: Weʻre introduced to Yosuke as he wobbles past the protagonist on his bicycle and crashes into a utility pole. From this point on heʻs recognizable as the Butt of Jokes for the game. He hops around cradling his privates and the protagonist walks right past. It becomes a running joke in the series. If thereʻs a comic relief moment to be had, Yosuke can often be found at the center of it. Itʻs not an honor that heʻs happy to take. Frequently he complains about not being taken seriously, how stupid things always happen to him, or makes self deprecating remarks. Even his initial persona form has a low starting luck stat. Heʻs just not a lucky guy. In fact, heʻs a total klutz at times.

On the luckier side, Yosuke goes through a lot of character growth throughout his canon. Itʻs the theme of the series to seek out the truth in self and the surrounding world, to acknowledge oneʻs failures and shortcomings, accept them and obtain the ability to change them. Yosuke himself has many good points, but also many flaws that he has to learn from.

Physically, Yosuke has a wispy build, at 5ʻ9" and only 128 lbs. Heʻs often the target of jokes because of this, and it does seem to irk him. Perhaps itʻs almost a positive attribute though, because it does seem to inspire him to train harder to overcome it. By the end of the game (Yosukeʻs canon point) heʻs developed a very well rounded persona skill set. Though he doesnʻt bulk up noticeably (and in one instance during an expanded version of the original game the protagonist observes that Yosuke has lost a noticeable amount of weight during a stressful time,) he comments frequently about growing stronger, and he clearly improves his accuracy as well as his hit power during hand to hand combat over time. Clearly he tries his best even if his agility and speed are often what save him from being out-muscled.

In fact, Yosukeʻs dedication is practically unmatched. Heʻs the first to be able to take a mortal blow in place of the protagonist during battle, he picks up extra shifts at work when other employees call in sick or slack off, and when a team member ends up needing a place to stay Yosuke steps up to the plate. Heʻs reliable in matters of communicating things such as team meetings and new developments, and always the first to throw out a possible solution to a problem. Even when heʻs wrong, Yosuke can (except in one instance) be easily swayed to see whatʻs best for the team and the world instead.

Regarding that particular instance, itʻs important to note that Yosuke has a bit of a temper. Heʻs a very emotional person altogether, and although rationality will always win him over in the end, heʻs not shy about sharing his feelings. Heʻs prone to acting and speaking on impulse if he isnʻt reigned in. At times he can downright act like a total jerk. Most noticeably, Yosuke can make a lot of homophobic or misogynistic remarks. Although itʻs clear that he never means to hurt peopleʻs feelings, he always shows true remorse and apologizes, (and frankly he gets his butt absolutely handed to him by women and bi-curious friends on a regular basis,) the fact canʻt be ignored that he still opens his big mouth and says a lot of hurtful things in the first place. Throughout the series he gets his comeuppance many times for this, and the behavior slowly starts to get better, but even at the end of the game a bit of it still stubbornly and frustratingly persists.

A lot of Yosukeʻs rotten behavior seems to stem from his own personal insecurities, and decreases over time as he comes to feel more accepted by the group himself. He eventually admits to the protagonist that heʻs never had any real friends before. In fact, In the year and a half heʻs been away from the city not one of his former classmates has attempted to stay in touch with him. Heʻs so desperate for human contact early in canon that he keeps his old email address after moving even though itʻs always being spammed. When questioned by the protagonist, Yosuke admits that heʻs been hoping someone would some day want to contact him, but heʻs too afraid to reach out himself because he knows that most people are simply annoyed by him. This is probably compounded by his encounter with the shadow thoughts of his dead co-worker, Saki Konishi.

The second time he enters the TV world with the protagonist he stumbles into what would have been Sakiʻs dungeon if that were a playable fight. Her last thoughts and fears echo around, including the fact that the town folk and her family resented her working at Junes. She also states that she found Yosuke annoying, clingy, and a real pain in the ass. Yosuke is crushed to hear this, because he genuinely cares for Saki. He reveals later that when he first moved to town and was most frequently an open target for bitter shopkeepers and townies who didnʻt want to see the big corporate department store moving in, Saki was the only one who had kind words for him. Sheʻd told him that he was himself, no matter who his parents were. It made him feel like more than just an invading department store chain employee.

Although Yosuke can be a little thick at times when it comes to the feelings of others and even reading peopleʻs intentions (for example, Saki Konishi,) he does genuinely care. Heʻs all heart. Although Yosuke can be whiny and initially selfish at times, it tends to be a front he puts up to guard against the fact that honestly heʻs a pushover. When pressed he will do almost anything for people he cares about, and quite a lot even for people he loathes if he feels a sense of responsibility towards them. Heʻll be the first to show up and the last to leave in every situation. Heʻs so loyal in fact that during one option of an expanded version of the game itʻs truly dismaying.

Yosuke has an incredibly strong sense of justice that heʻs not willing to compromise (except for notably in the loyalty clause above, wherein the protagonist may learn that Yosuke would in fact help a friend hide a body.) He cries vengeance a lot but at every corner is dissuaded, though he does persist in asking for justice against those who would or do hurt innocent people. Heʻs capable of being downright cruel if he gets carried away with these emotions, so he really does best as part of a team with defined leaders who can step in and stop him when he goes too far. Heʻs fairly easily grounded again by those he trusts.

Even at the worst of times Yosuke will have a smile and a word of encouragement for anyone who seems to be struggling. Though he makes his own complaints about a situation known to friends, heʻs professional and courteous to a fault with superiors and casual acquaintances.

Although Yosuke is clumsy and more than a bit prone to sticking his foot in his mouth, he has surprisingly sharp deductive reasoning skills. He thinks on his feet, catches minor details, and draws connections easily. Sometimes all it takes is stating a problem out loud for him to snap his fingers and find a possible solution. Heʻs hard working and persistent, willing to hit the grindstone again and again when one solution falls through, always looking for the next.

In stark contrast to this, Yosuke is incredibly lazy when it comes to matters that donʻt interest him. Although heʻs clearly intelligent, Yosuke balks at homework and dismisses school as mostly unimportant. He doesnʻt expect much from life besides a department store living, though of course in his dreams he gets to grow up to be a rock star. Yosuke will even fib to get out of things, such as during the drama CDs when he admits he always pretends to be slow in gym class so he wonʻt be picked for relay races. Anyone who has played the game of course will be aware that Yosuke is by far the fastest character on the team, he simply doesnʻt care about it and so he doesnʻt bother to expend the energy.

He can be entrusted with a lot of responsibility, however. Yosukeʻs room is fastidiously clean, he never misses an appointment or a shift at work, and even tailors his behavior when heʻs out in public to avoid embarrassing his parents. Heʻs aware without being told that thereʻs a connection between a retailerʻs public behavior and their profit margin. Although he laments this to the protagonist at one time, he demonstrably abides by it through ignoring cruel remarks aimed in his direction by gossiping housewives.

Throughout the game Yosukeʻs confidence can be seen to grow, though in the right situations heʻs very shy and self conscious. Itʻs only when he feels accepted by the team, when he realizes that heʻs a valued and contributing member, that he starts to feel a little less depressed about his situation. Although Yosuke is still prone to self deprecating jokes even at the end of his canon point, heʻs also started by then to call the team his friends.

This is a huge development for him, considering Yosukeʻs development arc is mostly about his loneliness, his inability to form meaningful connections to others, and his deep rooted insecurities. Although he still approaches new relationships with extreme caution (and the unfortunate stance that they are most likely to backfire and cause him pain) Yosuke now is able to trust others that he feels are proven friends. Initial wariness aside he has the potential to be the most loyal and dependable friend a person could ask for.

Itʻs also through this newly found ability to form friendships that Yosuke goes from loathing the quiet countryside to almost shyly admitting that heʻs grown to love it by the end of the game. While it hasnʻt got the bustle and excitement of the city that heʻd desperately craved for the first year away, it does offer its own unique charms. Yosuke learns to function at a slightly less frantic pace himself, though he never does shake off all of his nervous, go-getter energy. Heʻs best kept busy, so that he doesnʻt come up with his own forms of entertainment.

Character Powers & Skills:
Skills: Yosuke has only a handful of skills outside of magic use, and most of them pertain to being a teenage boy with an after school job living in rural Japan. Things such as the inner workings of a department store are very familiar to him because his father manages one. Heʻs familiar with major metropolitan transportation in his home city, and he knows all the lyrics to like a ton of American songs. Which is probably a skill set only important to Yosuke himself.

He is however well versed in hand to hand combat with dual wielded weapons, most specifically kunai and dagger types. Though heʻs been known to use kitchen knives, a set of spanners, and (in a different game not his genuine canon source) a set of unwitting fish in a pinch. Yosuke hits hard, tends to strike accurately, and is a good candidate for a critical blow to an opponent. Heʻs fast and agile on the battlefield, often getting in several battle turns in the time it takes others to strike only once. A non-traditional speedster, Yosuke can really slam his opponents and copes surprisingly well with most physical attacks. (His initial battle weaknesses are elemental.)

Matched against someone with superhuman strength though, Yosuke wouldnʻt stand a very good chance without his persona to back him up. Heʻs strong and well trained for his age and size, but when it comes down to it heʻs a skinny guy without a lot of bulk to back him up. His speed and agility are his greatest offense in situations where heʻs out-muscled.

Powers: Yosuke has the ability to summon what is called a persona. Persona in this case is the physical manifestation of oneʻs strength of will. Personae are magical entities with power sets based on the four elements, buffs, debuffs, charm skills, status impairments, and large scale physical attacks. Although there are 18 different skills that Yosukeʻs persona Susa no O is technically capable of using in its final form, the game limits the retention of those skills to 8. Outlined below are the eight Yosuke will have access to.

Brave Blade: Deals severe physical damage to a single opponent, with 90 accuracy.

Garudyne: Is a wind spell. It deals heavy elemental damage to a single opponent.
Note: Thereʻs also a multi opponent version, Magarudyne, which perhaps Yosuke can eventually learn.

Tentarafoo: Confuses all enemies, causing them to act against their will in any of the following ways; attacking (including friendly fire), doing nothing, guarding against an attack or throwing their money away. After the spell wears off their status reverts to normal but they do not regain losses. At the time itʻs acquired the spell only lands roughly once out of three attempts.

Diarahan: Is a full Restore Health spell for one teammate. (see also; Recovery Skills) Note: Thereʻs a multiple teammate version of the spell as well, Mediarahan, which would enable Yosuke to heal everyone immediately engaged with the same opponent or group of opponents he is. Which is to say, side by side, not across an entire section of a battlefield.

Sukukaja: is a buff, which increases both a teammateʻs ability to attack and their ability to evade attacks directed at them for a full three turns in battle. (see also; Support Skills)

Dekaja: Nullifies stat bonuses on all foes. In the CDC setting this would translate into being able to break protection spells that opponents have cast and deal them damage. Itʻs a skill that wouldnʻt be used during sparring or played character interactions. (see also; Support Skills)

Wind Break: In the event an opponent is resistant to wind spells, Wind Break causes them to land regardless and deal damage for 3 turns in battle.

Wind Amp: Is a passive skill, so it is always working without needing to be actively cast. It increases the damage Yosukeʻs wind spells deal by 50%.

In addition to these skills, Yosukeʻs persona has the passive (always engaged without needing to cast a spell) ability to Null Wind and Resist Fire. In canon, to learn a new skill beyond the eighth, a persona must relinquish one of its current skills.

Recovery Skills: Because Yosuke might well volunteer his services to the medical team at some point there are stronger healing spells he might be capable of learning, outlined here:
Recarm -revives teammateʻs consciousness and restores them to half health
Samarecarm -revives teammateʻs consciousness and restores them to full health
Posumudi -neutralizes poison
Nervundi-cures exhaustion for one teammate
Energy shower-cures exhaustion for all immediate teammates
Amrita-cures illnesses and ailments
Salvation-fully restores health to all immediate teammates, cures illnesses and ailments

The caveat to these skills is that the more powerful they are in the canon source, the more draining they are to the caster. Itʻs unlikely that Yosuke would be able to handle the strain of using most of them repeatedly until heʻs been trained by medical mentors for a pretty good chunk of time.

Support Skills: These would be more likely to be trained if Yosuke is sent to a front line team. Since theyʻre among the skill set his persona type in general is usually capable of learning Iʻll include the relevant parts of the wiki listing just in case. Ally indicates a teammate and party indicates all immediate teammates:
Tarukaja- Increases 1 ally's Attack for 3 turns.
Rakukaja- Increases 1 ally's Defense for 3 turns.
Sukukaja- Increases 1 ally's Hit/Evasion rates for 3 turns.
Matarukaja- Increases Attack for 3 turns (party).
Marakukaja- Increases Defense for 3 turns (party).
Masukukaja- Increases Hit/Evasion rates for 3 turns (party).
Heat Riser Increases 1 ally's Attack, Defense and Hit/Evasion rates for 3 turns.
Dekunda- Nullifies stat penalties on party. (Translation: undoes any hexes or weakening spells.)
Dekaja- Nullifies stat bonuses on all foes. (Translation: breaks through protective charms.)
Tarunda- Decreases 1 foes's Attack for 3 turns.
Rakunda- Decreases 1 foe's Defense for 3 turns.
Sukunda- Decreases 1 foe's Hit/Evasion rates for 3 turns.
Matarunda- Decreases all foes' Attack for 3 turns.
Marakunda- Decreases all foes' Defense for 3 turns.
Masukunda- Decreases all foes' Hit/Evasion rates for 3 turns.
Debilitate- Decreases 1 foe's Attack, Defense and Hit/Evasion rates for 3 turns.
Green Wall- Add Wind resistance to 1 ally for 3 turns Note: there are walls for every element but as a wind user Yosuke would only be able to defend against wind.
Rebellion- Increases one allyʻs Critical rate for 3 turns
Revolution- Greatly increases Critical rate for 3 turns (party)
Power Charge- Next physical attack, physical skill, or Almighty physical attack (this is a very severe form of physical attack) will be 250% greater in power.
Mind Charge- Wind attack will be 250% greater in power.
Tetrakarn- Barrier that reflects phys dmg once. (1 ally)
Makarakarn- Barrier that reflects magic dmg once. (1 ally; excludes Almighty attacks Note: this will have to be judged by mods or opponents, since itʻs a world specific limitation)
Tetra Break- Negates all foes' Tetrakarn.
Makara Break- Negates all foes' Makarakarn.
Tetraja- Nullifies instant kill attack once (1 ally).
Trafuri- Enables escape from most battles. (100% chance to escape normal battles Note:this means combat aside from big boss battles. Might in this case mean the ability to create a significant distraction to allow Yosuke and his teammates to escape a grim outcome during most battles)
Traesto- Instantly escape from a dungeon. (Not available during combat.) Note: This is a warping spell. A good translation would be it enables Yosuke and his immediate teammates to return to a safety point. It however cannot be used when engaged directly in a combat situation, a lull or escape must be created first.)

It should be noted that most of the powers outlined above are not inherited by Yosukeʻs persona by the end of the game and would most likely need to be developed over battles and earned individually, as thatʻs the way the skills are obtained in all canon sources including Yosukeʻs original canon source.

CHARACTER SAMPLES.
First Person POV:
TDM top post (all sub threads meet requirements)
Johanna Mason gives Yosuke a hard time (meets requirements)

Short extras which donʻt count towards sample but might be helpful?:
Jack Benjamin gives Yosuke a hard time
Yosuke fails to help Wheatley
Kasumi Goto leads Yosuke away from the corpse party
Yosuke fails to help D-54
Yosuke fails to help Hange Zoe and Eren Jaeger
Iorveth gives Yosuke a hard time

Third Person POV: Everything is already miserable. Yosuke is caught in between Shunbun and Showa days, but the sales arenʻt waiting around for the next holiday. Now that the weather has cleared up things seem to be bustling. Everyone who was terrified to do their shopping before is out enjoying the freedom of fresh, fog-free air with a trip to the local department store, Junes. Probably other places too, since practically everyone has been calling in sick lately, especially on weekends.

Yosuke isnʻt so lucky. The bossʻs kid canʻt play hooky. Heʻd be found out for sure and it would disgrace the family. Itʻs a real pain in the ass. Instead heʻs stuck at work for long, busy days. Left and right there are employee squabbles going on, which is unfortunately his problem whether he likes it or not. On top of that thereʻs the stupid mascot bear, who still hasnʻt learned how to do his job without destroying merchandise and costing Yosuke half of his paycheck anyway.

The furniture department isnʻt as busy as most today, so Yosuke hides out there to get a breather. Heʻs not supposed to, but itʻs really necessary so that he doesnʻt just lose it. Heʻd swear so if anyone asked, though that wouldnʻt save him from a lecture if he did get caught. Even so, heʻs not too discrete about it. He faceplants onto the softest demo bed in the store and stays that way, letting his eyes close for just a second. Heʻs so tired...

Naturally someone finds him. "Excuse me?" A voice calls, and he can only be so happy that itʻs a customer and not one of the department managers. Yosuke manages to swallow down the groan that he wants to give in response and instead looks up. When he gets up from the bed itʻs a little stiffly. Heʻs sore at the moment, between saving the world and keeping the shelves stocked.

"How can I help you today?" Yosuke responds, whipping out his customer service smile. It sticks to his face a little too long, which kind of hurts. It takes him a second to school his expression into one of polite inquiry instead of quiet dismay.

The customer is an older woman. She pats his arm gently. "I bet youʻd like a vacation." She suggests. In her old, wizened tone it sounds like such a good idea. Yosuke almost sighs at the thought, but he manages a smile instead. This one hurts a little less. At least the lady seems kind. He sort of wants to help her now.

"Sure, or better yet the power to blend in with the bed. Like being invisible." Yosuke laughs a little, and that much is genuine if weary. He shouldnʻt say stuff like that to customers. Thatʻs part of why itʻs so funny. Heʻll be in for it if this lady tells on him though, so he quickly squares up his shoulders and takes a slow, calming breath. Back to work. "Anyway, what can I help you with today maʻam?"

The old lady doesnʻt smile back at him, but she doesnʻt seem particularly offended either. "I need to see a shower stall." She says instead. Thatʻs easy enough. Theyʻre nearly in the right department already, so Yosuke leads the way. It takes less than a minute to get to the section with the bathroom fixtures, and even though he canʻt get commission in this department today Yosuke decides to show the lady the fixtures himself instead of going to the trouble of finding an associate. Anyone will be happy to take a sale off his hands later of course, but they wonʻt be as happy to do the work involved with the selling. Itʻs no big deal to him, though.

He starts to show off the perks of the best shower stall first, after confirming the woman is working with a decent budget, but she interrupts him. "Can it fit two people?"

Yosuke freezes for a second in surprise, but he tries to hide it. What a question for an old lady to ask! He glances at his shoes and starts reciting dimensions for her, but she grabs his arm again and he looks up at her. Thereʻs something pleading in her expression. "Step inside with me. Weʻll find out."

This seems creepy and wrong. Itʻs something heʻs never come across before, and he glances around warily to make sure theyʻre not alone alone. Yeah, there are other customers in nearby aisles, and he can hear the linen clerk cracking her gum like heʻs asked her to stop doing at work a hundred times. Itʻs probably fine. Right?

Then itʻs too late to ask questions. The old woman uses his arm to steady herself while she steps inside, but manages to give a surprisingly sharp tug to get him to follow her in. He blinks, and clears his throat awkwardly. This has to be the most uncomfortable sale heʻs ever earned. Theyʻre standing so close he can feel her breathing. "Th-there you have it. We fit." Yosuke stutters a little, and starts to step out. The woman grabs his arm to stop him.

"What about with the door closed?" She asks, with the same pleading expression. What exactly does this old lady want from him? Yosuke bites his lip a little, but screw it, this is the most expensive shower stall in the store. If he lands this sale, he can probably nap on the bed for a week before he gets told off about it. Yosuke reaches out and pulls the door closed. Heʻs about to ask if she needs to see any other models (oh please no,) but the words die in his throat. Instead he finds himself squinting, puzzled, into a bright light...

CHARACTER ITEMS.
Pick a Team:
Red team would suit Yosuke because heʻs experienced at search and rescue missions. Heʻs also great at making distractions. On the other hand, heʻs not likely to be a very good assassin without a LOT of training.

Green team could also suit Yosuke when heʻs regained a strong command of his persona. He has some hard hitting magical skills as well as medical skills.

THAT SAID... if heʻs placed on Gray for his trainee period that is completely fine by me. On any other team he might need to be protected until heʻs able to fight, and I can understand how that could get in the way.

Reason for Joining the CDC: Although Yosuke was a zero disclosure recruit, when he finds himself in this situation he will eventually come to the conclusion that he and the protagonist are meant to save their world again, which they have done as part of a team once before. Although the CDC tactics are not going to sit well with him, and he may balk at some orders, heʻs not going to outright refuse to cooperate and endanger his home. No, thanks.

In addition to this, destroying planets is a lot more interesting than living in rural Japan. The desire to spice up his newly boring life has gotten Yosuke into some pretty incredible predicaments in the past, so itʻs not a stretch to say he might be influenced a little by that as well. Not that heʻd like to admit it.

Mission Freebie: Invisibility via camouflage ability. Which he meant as a joke of course (see recruitment sample) and will likely have a very difficult time getting the hang of if it is granted to him. The thing he would most like to ask for canʻt be granted to him so heʻll be asking for a series of silly items or powers during missions.
Personal Item or Weapon: Kashin Koji. Yosuke wields dual daggers/kunai/knives/spanners in a pinch. This particular weapons hits for 361 with a 96 accuracy. Out of game context, that's a pretty good hard hit. It's the second most powerful hand to hand weapon Yosuke can equip in his original canon source.

In addition to that, these knives have low odds of inflicting status ailments (not likely to happen more than once per battle unless it's during a drawn out battle) as detailed below:

Confusion causes an opponent to do any of the following against their will: defend, attack (including friendly fire,) do nothing or lose money.

Dizzy an opponent who has been dizzied loses a turn in battle because they're unable to stand to attack.

Ennervation causes an opponent's stats to be lowered temporarily. Outside of game lingo this means they are easier to hurt.

Exhaustion causes an opponent to lose SP (which can be translated into stamina or magical stores) and take extra damage from all spells or attacks until it wears off.

Fear will cause an opponent to freeze in place and forfeit all turns during battle until it wears off, or even flee the battle entirely.

Poison is a sort that deals damage to the opponents health points during every turn in battle and halves the damage their own attacks cause.

Rage causes an opponent to use only physical attacks regardless of their prior strategy. When those physical attacks do land on a player character their strength is doubled. However, their accuracy is halved so they only land half as often as they ordinarily would. In addition to this, the defense of the opponent is halved as well, so it is twice as easy to hit them twice as hard.

Silence causes an opponent to lose the ability to use any magical skills or large physical attacks. (Hand to hand combat is still possible.) In addition, for multiple persona users such as The Protagonist or certain boss battles, the ability to switch between power sets is also revoked until the effect wears off.

Note: because it would be possible for a player character to be affected by a status ailment in game if the player of said character so chooses I'm going to let other players decide in those situations if they'd like the option or not. Odds will remain low, but in the event it's something people want to play with and it makes sense during that mission for some reason. I doubt this will ever come up, but just in case it does I wanted to be clear on that!
